Recycling

Waste Connections offers municipal, commercial, industrial and residential recycling services for a variety of recyclable materials, including cardboard, office paper, plastic containers, glass bottles and ferrous and aluminum metals. The company owns and operates recycling processing facilities (MRF's) and sells other collected recyclable materials to third parties for processing before resale. The profits from the Company's resale of recycled materials are often shared between the Company and its partners in recycling contracts. To reduce its exposure to commodity price risk, the Company has adopted a pricing strategy of charging separate fees for both collection and processing. Recycling will continue to be an important component of state and local solid waste planning due to the public's increasing environmental awareness and expanding regulations that mandate or encourage recycling.
